About The School
Ramat Polytechnic, located in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria, has a rich history that dates back to 1973 when it was founded as a Government Technical College. In honor of the then Head of State, late General Murtala Ramat Muhammad, the institution was later renamed and upgraded to Ramat College of Technology.
Today, Ramat Polytechnic offers a wide range of programs across 30 academic departments, including the School of Agricultural and Applied Sciences, School of Engineering and Bio-Environmental Technology, School of Environmental Studies, School of Management Studies, and School of Vocational and Technical Education.
To gain admission into Ramat Polytechnic, applicants must have a minimum of five credits in SSCE/NECO/GCE O’levels, including English and Mathematics, and a minimum of 120 in the UTME.
The school fees for both ND and HND students range from N60,000 to N80,000. Ramat Polytechnic is fully accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and recognized by the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), ensuring that students receive a high-quality education that prepares them for successful careers.

To be admitted to this polytechnic, prospective students must meet specific entrance standards.
ND Requirements:
- O’level Results: Prospective students must have at least five credit passes in the required courses, including Mathematics and English Language, from no more than two sittings of WAEC, NECO, or GCE.
- JAMB UTME: Prospective students must take the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and achieve the minimal UTME cut-off mark established by JAMB, which is often 150 or 180 depending on the program.
HND Requirements:
- National Diploma with a minimum of lower credit pass in the discipline
- A minimum of one-year post-ND cognate work experience in the field of specialisation
- Five credits in relevant subjects, including English Language and Mathematics at the SSCE/NECO/GCE or NABTEB O’Level examinations in not more than two sittings
- National Diploma (ND) in the relevant programme with minimum of Lower Credit in the field of interest and five credits in SSCE, NTC, GCE, WAEC, NECO, NBC or NABTEB level.
