ABU Postgraduate Admission Form for 2023/2024 Session

The Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria has officially announced the commencement of the online sale of Postgraduate Application Forms for the 2023/2024 academic session. Prospective applicants are encouraged to explore the diverse range of courses available for postgraduate studies at ABU.

Entry Requirements:

To be eligible for postgraduate studies at ABU, applicants must meet the following entry requirements:

1. Normal Undergraduate Requirements:

   • Minimum of five relevant O’ level credits or a combination of relevant O’ level credits and A ‘level qualifications.
   • Credits must include O’ level English Language and Mathematics where required.

2. HND Holders:

   • A holder of HND (minimum of Upper Credit) or equivalent may be eligible for Masters Admission with an additional qualification such as a PGD in the same or related field.

3. 3rd Class Degrees:

   • Applicants with 3rd class Degrees may be considered in some cases, provided they possess additional relevant qualifications such as a PGD and/or post-graduation work experience (at least 5 years).

4. Pass Degree or HND (Lower Credit):

   • Holders of Pass Degree or HND (lower than Upper Credit) are not eligible for postgraduate studies at ABU.

5. PhD Admission:

   • PhD applicants must hold a Master’s degree with a research thesis component.
   • Candidates with a CGPA score of less than 3.5 are not eligible for PhD admission.
   • PhD applicants judged deficient may be considered for an M.Phil.

6. Additional Requirements for Foreign Candidates:

   • Foreign candidates must satisfy specific requirements, including possession of documents such as Admission Letter, International Passport or ECOWAS Travel Certificate, Valid VISA/STR (Subject to Regularization), and Residence Permit.

Application Process:

1. Cost: The application form costs Ten Thousand Naira (N10,000.00) only, excluding bank charges.
2. Duration: The sale of application forms and submission will take place from 29th May 2023 to 29th August 2023.
3. Ph.D. Proposal: Ph.D. applicants must upload a research proposal of not more than 300 words on the intended research work.
