The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is committed to enhancing human resource development in the Niger Delta region. As part of this commitment, the NDDC offers the Foreign Postgraduate Scholarship Programme for the 2025 academic session. This initiative aims to equip young professionals from the Niger Delta with advanced training and skills, enabling them to participate effectively in the Federal Government’s local content programme and compete globally in various professional disciplines.

• Type: Postgraduate (Master’s and Ph.D. programs)
• Value: Covers tuition, living expenses, and health insurance, with amounts determined based on the prevailing exchange rate of the Naira.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Origin: Must be an indigene of one of the Niger Delta states: Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Imo, Ondo, and Rivers.
• Academic Qualifications:
  • For Master’s Degree applicants: Minimum of Second Class Lower Division in a relevant field from a recognized university.
  • For Ph.D. applicants: A good Master’s Degree in a relevant field.
• Admission Status: Must have secured admission into a recognized foreign university for a postgraduate program in one of the eligible fields of study.
• Age Limit: Not more than 30 years for Master’s applicants and 35 years for Ph.D. applicants.
• NYSC Status: Must have completed the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program.

Application Process

Interested and qualified candidates should:

1. Apply Online: Complete the application form on the NDDC scholarship portal: NDDC Scholarship Application Portal.
2. Required Documents: Upload scanned copies of the following:
   • Recent passport photograph
   • Local Government Identification Letter
   • Admission letter from a recognized overseas university
   • Degree certificates
   • NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate
3. Submission: Upon successful submission, a registration number will be assigned. Print the acknowledgment slip for reference.

Selection Process

The selection involves:

1. Preliminary Shortlisting: Based on academic qualifications and compliance with eligibility criteria.
2. Computer-Based Test (CBT): Shortlisted candidates will undergo a CBT focusing on proficiency in English, Mathematics, and General Knowledge.
3. Oral Interview: Candidates who pass the CBT will be invited for an oral interview.
4. Final Verification: Includes authentication of credentials and verification of local government and community of origin.

Additional Information

• Preference: Given to candidates from oil-producing host communities/local government areas, provided they meet the cut-off mark.
