When seeking admission into Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), understanding the admission catchment area and Educationally Less Developed States (ELDS) criteria is crucial. In this comprehensive guide, we will delve into the specifics of ATBU’s catchment area, ELDS, and the admission process to help prospective students navigate the competitive application process successfully.

    ATBU Catchment Area for Admission:

ATBU’s catchment area encompasses specific geographic regions from which the university admits students. For ATBU, the catchment area includes the following states:

    1. Bauchi
    2. Adamawa
    3. Gombe
    4. Borno
    5. Yobe
    6. Taraba
    7. Benue

These states constitute the catchment area, and candidates from these regions receive special consideration during the admission process.

    ATBU ELDS for Admission:

Economically and Educationally Less Developed States (ELDS) are given special consideration in the admission process. For ATBU, the ELDS include:

    1. Adamawa
    2. Kebbi
    3. Kogi
    4. Sokoto
    5. Jigawa
    6. Nasarawa
    7. Taraba
    8. Cross River
    9. Benue
    10. Rivers
    11. Katsina
    12. Ebonyi
    13. Zamfara
    14. Kano
    15. Niger
    16. Yobe
    17. Kaduna
    18. Bauchi
    19. Borno
    20. Plateau
    21. Kwara
    22. Gombe
    23. Bayelsa

It’s important to note that while candidates from these states receive special consideration, ATBU does not exclude students from outside the catchment area.

    Admission Process and Criteria:

ATBU’s admission process is divided into three categories:

    1. Merit: 45% of the admission slots are allocated based on merit.
    2. Catchment Areas: 35% of the admission slots are reserved for candidates from the catchment area.
    3. ELDS: 20% of the admission slots are reserved for candidates from Educationally Less Developed States.

Candidates from states outside the catchment area but meeting the merit cut-off mark for their desired course are eligible for admission. However, candidates from catchment states must meet both the catchment requirements and the minimum cut-off mark for consideration.

    Conclusion:

Understanding the ATBU admission catchment area and ELDS criteria is vital for prospective students. By meeting these criteria and maintaining a strong academic record, candidates can enhance their chances of securing admission to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University. We hope this guide has provided valuable insights into the admission process at ATBU. Good luck with your application!
