The National Examination Council (NECO) has officially opened the registration for the 2023 November/December Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External for School Candidates. NECO GCE 2023 Registration Details:
Registration Period:
- The registration period begins on September 11, 2023, and ends on November 13, 2023, at 12:00 midnight.
- Late registration from November 14 to 19, 2023, will attract an additional fee of Two Thousand Naira (N2,000).
Registration Channels:
- Candidates can register both offline and online.
- Visit the official NECO website neco.gov.ng to find the nearest registration point (Cybercafe) and register within the stipulated period.
- Alternatively, create an account, purchase a registration token, and then proceed to the registration point for online registration.
Biometric Fingerprint and Verification:
- Biometric fingerprints will be captured during offline registration.
- There will be biometric verification during the examination, and candidates with mismatched fingerprints will face sanctions.
Attestation/Photo Cards and Examination Timetable:
- Upon completing the registration, candidates must obtain the following from the Cyber Cafe:
- Timetable for the examination.
- At least one clear copy of the NECO Photo card for admission into the Examination Hall.

Attestation Requirements:
- The Referee’s Attestation section of the Photo card should be signed and stamped by:
- The Principal of a recognized Secondary School.
- An Ordained Clergyman or a Chief Imam.
- A Commissioned Officer of the Nigerian Armed Forces or the Police not below the rank of Captain.
- A Senior Civil Servant not below GL. 14.
- A Legal Practitioner of not less than Ten years’ experience.
- The Referee’s Attestation section of the Photo card should be signed and stamped by:
NECO Registration Fee:
- The registration fee is Seventeen Thousand Eight Hundred Naira (N17,800.00) only, plus N50.00 for stamp duty.
- Late registration incurs an additional penalty of N2,000.00 per candidate.
Mode of Payment:
- Payment can be made using ATM Card, Internet Banking, USSD, Wallet, or at a Bank Branch.
- Scratch cards are no longer used for NECO transactions.
Examination Centres:
- Examination centres are grouped into neighborhoods, and candidates should select a neighborhood within their state during registration.
Available Subjects for Examination:
- A comprehensive list of subjects is available, including English Language, Mathematics, Sciences, Languages, and more.
Important Notes:
- The registration fee is non-refundable.
- Walk-in candidates can now register six (6) hours before the subject they intend to write.
- Examination centre cannot be edited after upload.

- Reputable cyber cafes are recommended, and candidates should cross-check all entries before data upload.
